About the Artists

Louise Bédard

Choreographer and performer

Louise has a passion for movement, space, and that delicate thread where one exists in a perpetual state of suspension and anchoring. She draws inspiration from the poetry of bodies within environments where space is defined by objects or by the play of light on skin. She embraces performing roles with great enthusiasm. In November 2018, she received the Performer of the Year Award for her role in Tout va revient by Catherine Gaudet, as well as for her overall career. In February 2020, her company Louise Bédard Danse presented its most recent work, Promesses, at the Agora de la danse. Louise is a founding member of Circuit-Est Centre chorégraphique in Montréal.

Nelly-Ève Rajotte

Sound designer

After completing a master’s degree at UQÀM’s School of Visual and Media Arts, multidisciplinary artist Nelly-Eve Rajotte investigates the relationship to space and explores the branching of physical sensations and psychological states through sound and image. She borrows cinematic strategies of editing and staging that not only transform but also aestheticize reality. The sound environment doubles the sensory potential of the work by denying or magnifying the image’s narrative. In addition to numerous exhibitions in Québec — including Fonderie Darling, Parisian Laundry, Occurrence, Clark, Optica and Circa — her works have been presented at several prestigious festivals across Canada, as well as at MUTEK festivals in Japan, Mexico, Argentina and Canada.
